Thoughts to Ponder on Alex Not Doing a Full-Band US Tour During 2011

Like most fans here in the US, every now and then, I too, become frustrated over the fact that as of yet, Alex hasn't treated us to a full-band US tour this year. However, the fact that he's not touring here doesn't necessarily mean that he's forgotten about us either, and for that matter, I'm 100% sure that he in fact has not!

During the past several years, between recording, re-organizing his career, releasing his new album, touring, and getting married; Alex certainly has had a lot on his plate to deal with so to speak, and so therefore; the old saying "Rome Wasn't Built in a Day" is quite applicable here! After all, it's only been 15 months since Alex officially began his solo artist debut with his June 29th, 2010 release of 'We've All Been There', and in the grand scheme of things~ 15 months is really not a lot of time!  With that in mind, I feel that the word Patience is the keyword here for us fans here in The United States of America.

As Alex has pointed out several times in the past, he basically has had to start over again as a solo artist; and I'm sure that that in itself is not as easy to do as most people would have you believe.

My point here is this: Regardless of the fact that Alex has enjoyed huge fame & success in the past with The Calling, reality is that people here in America currently easily tend to forget about people, places, and things very quickly when they've been out of the lime-light for a while, and that especially holds true for recording artists who haven't had a major hit song here in 6 years as is such in Alex's case. (His last hit song here was "Why Don't You & I" with Carlos Santana back in 2005.)

Therefore, with that being the case & for whatever it is worth, it is my opinion that in order for Alex to attain the level of success that he enjoyed here in the past, The United States of America basically needs to re-discover Alex Band~ and the best way to make that come about, would be by having the following 3 important key things happen:

1. Alex needs a new "hit song" on FM Radio here in the US!

This is extremely important, because in all reality, no matter how great any song may be, it's dead in the water without airplay! Songs cannot become hits unless people first get to hear them on the radio on a daily basis, and unfortunately; these days, it is easier for new artists & for those attempting to re-kindle their careers  to find a needle in a haystack than it is for either one of them to get airplay on FM radio in the US because of the fact that most of the program directors in charge of deciding station play-lists are afraid to put their jobs on the line by going out on the limb with songs other than those by established artists such as the Lady Gagas of the world.

2. Alex needs exposure on shows like Letterman, Leno, & Regis & Kelly!

Performing songs on these shows will help to create a bigger demand from radio listeners for radio airplay of them; something which certainly would gain the attention of those "frightened" radio program directors in the key big market US cities.

3. Alex needs to tour with a major act to promote his new music, even if it means his act being billed as the opening act!

Mass exposure through live performances in big venues is a vital key in helping artists to become successful, and another great benefit to Alex from having that kind of exposure is that it would enable people to realize that he, Alex Band the person, and his former group known as The Calling, are basically one and the same; that this solo artist named Alex Band is the very heart of what made The Calling tick to begin with!

It's quite surprising how way too many people now-a-days aren't even aware of the relationship between the two, and I personally discovered that for myself back during 2010 when I attended three of Alex's full-band US shows.  Even to this very day, it still amazes me how many times I overheard comments from people saying things like, "Holy Shit... Adrienne is one of my most favorite songs; that’s his?"  "Wow~ I didn't realize that he's the guy who sings Wherever You Will Go... he's awesome; I love that song!"

Yes, I know~ asking for all of the above 3 key things to happen is a very big order to fill; but have faith people~ the good news here is this:

Alex Band is not a dumb person by any means, and just as sure as there are stars in the sky above, he certainly hasn't abandoned his US fans either!  In fact~ there's no doubt in my mind that the exact opposite is true in both cases. Moreover, I'm sure that Alex has things well planned out & that he has many awesome surprises lying in store for us. With that in mind, I'm totally confident that he knows exactly what he is doing, and that in due time~ when the timing is right~ he will do what needs to be done to once again bring about his success here in the United States of America & thus make all of us fans here happy & proud.

Be patient my friends... stand by Alex Band's side... take heed to his words:

"Time will tell us when to start again... start over again!"
